DISCUSS/TAKE ACTION: STIPENDS AND STAFFING FOR MEMBERS OF THE CITY COMMISSION
R9S Sponsored by City Attorney and Human Resources
Summary:
DISCUSS/TAKE ACTION: STIPENDS AND STAFFING FOR MEMBERS OF THE CITY COMMISSION
MBU RESOLUTION:
Miami Beach United believes that now is not the best time for a discussion of stipends or other compensation for the Mayor and Commissioners. We believe, as was recommended by the Ad Hoc Charter Review Board, that the Commission should defer discussion of this item until after the Charter Review Board has had the opportunity to make recommendations on this matter.

NOTICE REQUIREMENTS FOR DISCUSSION ITEMS ORDINANCE AMENDING ADMINISTRATION AND REVIEW PROCEDURES TO ESTABLISH A NOTICE PROCEDURE FOR CERTAIN DISCUSSION ITEMS THAT ARE SCHEDULED BY LAND USE BOARDS
R5KSponsored by Bhatt — First Reading
Summary:
NOTICE REQUIREMENTS FOR DISCUSSION ITEMS ORDINANCE AMENDING ADMINISTRATION AND REVIEW PROCEDURES TO ESTABLISH A NOTICE PROCEDURE FOR CERTAIN DISCUSSION ITEMS THAT ARE SCHEDULED BY LAND USE BOARDS.
MBU RESOLUTION:
Miami Beach United SUPPORTS this important ordinance to enhance notification requirements to a property owner when a discussion of their property is included on any Land Use Board agenda. We believe it is only fair that the owner is aware, from the inception, of any discussion or dialogue taking place by the City about their property which could have a considerable impact on their property. Having been integrally involved in the creation of the City’s Residents Right to Know process, MBU is committed to support legislation which increases transparency and helps to ensure that residents and businesses are fully informed and timely aware of any Land Use Board discussions that may affect them.

MBU RESOLUTION:
Miami Beach United SUPPORTS this amendment, which extends the list of issues included under the Residents’ Right to Know ordinance to agenda items pertaining to planned closure of a City street, bridge, or park, as these are all issues of potentially significant impact to residents’ quality of life. We further support the intent stated in this item “to promote transparency and identify additional opportunities for public notice on matters of importance to City residents” which demonstrates commitment to ongoing timely notification so critical to our residents.
